    Kentucky?s jobless rate drops to 9.5%

    Kentucky?s unemployment rate fell to 9.5 percent last month from 9.6 percent in June, the state?s Office of Employment and Training reported Friday. The latest rate is down from 10.2 percent in July 2010, the office, an agency of the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet, said in a news release. Last month?s rate is the lowest since January 2009, when the jobless rate stood at 9.2 percent. ?Kentucky?s economy continued to show signs of improvement in July,? Justine Detzel, the state?s chief labor market analyst, said in the release, noting that nonfarm employment reached its highest level since December 2008...

    Julie Jensen appeared to have it all: a husband, Mark, to whom she'd been married for 14 years, two sons and a nice home. In 1998 Mark told police he found Julie dead. Police called it a suicide, but D.A. Bob Jambois said, "It didn't look right." Mark was later convicted of murder, thanks partly to a letter Julie wrote foreshadowing it.     Report: Iran Sentences U.S. Hikers for Spying

    Two American hikers detained in Iran for the past two years have been sentenced to 8 years in prison on charges of spying and illegal entry, according to Iranian state TV. Josh Fattal and Shane Bauer along with Sarah Shourd were arrested in July 2009. They were taken into custody after they claimed they mistakenly crossed the border into Iranian territory.
